scenery

the cool thing about the Yukon is the distance u can see from jsut about anywhere. Have to excuse the crack in the windshield. Most cars etc have them from the sanding of the roads, but the view is great. U can see for miles but its not flat.

So life here is geting to be normal. no job yet but thats ok. Ill get on someday or my ui will start..as soon as fields gets me my ROE. head office can be slow. Oh well one of these days ill go to the mail box and it will be there.It still seems a bit sureal that im here, it seemed to take so long to get packed and to get here and now... i've been here jsut about 1 month. hard to believe.

we fixed the christmas lites outside yesterday and he is pluging the village truck in at nite time now. as its -22. Have the mail to check today so tahts my outting lol maby see if g i joe is in too lol

smoking mtn

U can see 3 plums of smoke coming from inside the mtn. there's a mine in there that caught on fire many years ago and its still on fire and will continue on for many years. Its illegal to go up there and the gasses are poisnious but of course ppl have to try and some have died. silly ppl.

Nordenschol river

This is the river we go over every day going into the Village but we are at a different place looking at it. The water is going over ice to keep flowing. Its realy great and pretty.Ill add another blog in a bit showing u the mtn thats on fire.. inside.

the icy river

Well here's the video of the ice on the Yukon river. If u listen closly u can hear the ice grinding against the ice on the shore. I"m wondering how long it will take to totaly ice over. Today was a sunny day which of course means taht it will be cold. Started out at -25 and now is -16 so warmed up a bit. I will add more video's of the river freezing over as it get more on it.

Frozen river

This is a river we go over when we go into the village, Its mostly frozen and as it gets colder it will freeze mostly all over. Last year they nearly had the bridge undermined with high water, and large ice blocks, but they were lucky and the river went down and the bridge is ok. I'll get video of the yukon river as it freezes over. When we went into Whitehorse yesterday we went to Wal-mart and i needed an adaptor for my camera to hold the memory card, a dumb thing sony did years ago, and they had one with a 2 g card and now.. yay i can take over 1000 pic's. soo much better and i have another card so i can take it with just incase i need back up lol.

settling in more

Hummm Maby i should change the name of this from trip to Carmacks to here at last lol.. cause not doing that ever again. when i go to get the last of my stuff im flying and shipping my stuff back here and flying back. No more 4 day driving trips for me. Bill and i might drive places in the summer but we will be able to take turnes which is much better. and will have a human to talk to unlike my trip here with only buster and Kyia to talk to. not so good :) My computer room is all done now. Just need some shelves up to put stuff on and i have a shelf to put in the living room somday also. I'm trying not to think of all the work i have to do at the old place. UG there is alot that can go to the kids or get sold in a yard sale and what does not get sold or taken can go to the second hand store and she can deal with it.. tired already lol.
Bill came home for lunch and i have a video of him playing with Buster. He realy likes buster..
they had a good time as u can see lol had to rescue the hat finally.. :)

halloween and video of place

well that was fun. waited all evening and finally had 3 kids come. so we have some candy for us...lol

the places are not too near each other so makes going from door to door tough. in the village there are houses closer together so the kids prob went there and they ahd a party at the rec center for the kids so could keep out of the cold. it was -6 here last nite :) and snowing still.

settling in

Well its been near 2 weeks here and its gotten better. i know my way around to most palces and bill has shown me some of his fav spots to relax, the views that he has shown me are awsome. I have settled in and my puter room is squared away and the pets have there pillows and blankies to lie on. We tried to set up my tv but the satalite will not let us run a splitter and use the 2 tv's so till spring and we get a new sat dish with the 4 coaxal attachments on it, we will jsut make do for now.. its colder here of course but i do not mind it at all. We went shopping in Whitehorse for fppd etc and I got winter boots and a realy nice winter jacket. fleece lined and down filled. warm.. :) we do the main part of our shopping in Whitehorse as the store here is too expensive for alot of shopping. so its a whole day to do that. 2 hrs there and 2 back.. so we shop and eat and take our time. I have feen the phesents and played with the 2 outside dogs, Sasha and Spirit, and had to find the escape spots of Dell, on of the little dogs, she is an escape artist and not always easy to get back in the yard.. she's funny. Kyia is not fond of the snow unless we are walking and she can run. Buster does not care of course but when it gets colder, will be a different story.
As for Bill and I. Its going great. Nice to have someone in my life again to share with. and he is sweet and funny. we are going to have a good life and there is lots to do when it gets nice out, like camping, fishing and when he gets the snow moblie fixed. we can go out on that. will be fun.
Have met alot of his friends and they all say pretty much the same thing, "have heard alot about you." lol bill has told everyone ablut me coming up to be with him. His best friend invited us over for dinner. was great him and his wife own a b & b that is realy nice and we had a great roast beef dinner with potatoes etc yummmm. they are realy nice. well still have more time to settle in and will be looking for a job in a bit unless my ui kicks in.. lol am liking the time off to be honest. am being the homemaker.. and its kinda fun for a change. anyways. enough for now.. maby add more later after i've been here a while.

needed password ug

well its been a long tiime since i did this, i could not remember my password and jsut never realy tried to get it again.
i have been here 2 days less than 2 weeks. Not long at all but sorta seems like quite a while.
getting to know the village and where everything is. Its beautifyul here. kinda wild and rustic.
talk about frountier land. village is tiny, mainly a gas stop along the way to somewhere else, like Dawson city and alaska etc. The animals have gotten used to each other but we have no introduced the big dogs to each other yet. soon though. cats have finally pretty much stoped hissing at each other.. good sign..lol. as for Bill and I, its getting better all the time. have to remember we only realy met 3 times but have been talking for over a year. He is who he is. no pretence's at all. can't remember what last post was but was probly before the van broke down.
That was kinda icky. I started having trouble at alice pass, with the oil lite coming on and the engine ticking at times. got more oil and in fort nelson i got some stuff that was realy think and would give the engine more life. worked for a while but i kept coming around corners and there were elk and big horn sheep and of course i had to stop for them as honking would not make them move. They were after the salt on the road. and then the lite stayed off but was getting more ticking. Stoped at Rocky mtn lodge and called Bill and told him that he would have to come and get me. That the Van was ticking and would not make it. I told him i would try and get to next phone but if i didn't call him, please come and get me..:) as the van would be dead. The cell phone didn't work here a=either.. rockys and all lol. Well i made it to the horsprings and it was closed and no phone so i went on trying to make it to Watson Lk. HaH!!! the van died 5 k's from there. ug.. let it rest for a bit and tried to start it and it turned over and then went.. clunk clunk bang... lol. i got out and looked and there was oil coming from the sides of the engine etc. so i blew the heads etc.. van was offically dead. i flaged down some ppl and asked the fella to please call Bill when he got to Watson Lk and tit was ok to call collect. He would have taken me and the dogs with them but i could not leave all my stuff... so they left after making sure i had food and water. as long as it was lite out it was ok. when it got dark then it got scarie.. i was in the middle of no where.. litterly.. 206 k's from watson lk and many hours from Bill. i had no idea if the ppl had gotten ahold of Bill and i knew Bill was on his way but how tired was he and what were the roads like nad how long till he got to me. I happened to have my book on my mp3 player so i listened to it and it realy helped me get through the hours.. i got gave the message to the ppl at 2:30 and bill got there at 12 :30. 10 hrs it took for him to get to me. I was never so glad to see anyone in my life. and he was releaved that i was ok too. what he thought of was getting to me as i was out there on my own..and i didn't like being out there on my own.. :). gave him a big hug when he got there and we sat in his truck for a bit to warm up when started loading my stuff into his truck. the cats in their kennel went tion the back seat with my plants and the blankets on the back seat for the dogs.. all my totes and boxes finally fit in the truck and we tarped it and away we went... bill was soo tired but wanted to get to watson lk at least... 206 k's away ..... well we made it and it jsut started snowing when we got there.. we had a bit to eat and then parked and slept for a couple of hours. Not enough but all we could manage.. had sorta breakfast and left watson lk. ug the road jsut out of town was a sheet of ice.. u could have skated on it, no problem.. we fish tailed a few times down a small hill and Bill got it under comtroll and pulled over to the shoulder and got out to see how slippery it was , and wow...bad.. we drove along the side many miles. There were trucks all along the hwy stoped cause could not go up or down the hills. The worst Bill has ever seen it. We drove like that for a long time not going over 30 k ever.. usually less. as the road allowed. finally about half way to whitehorse the roads got better, sanding etc helped alot of course. We stoped in Whitehorse for food and much needed coffee for Bill. got supper for home cause had no intention of cooking.. and we left for Carmacks. This made Bill feel better as he knows the road well and knew taht it was only 2 hrs to home. My poor cats had not been out of teh kennel at all in the 4 days and the dogs had had some out time but were mainly in a small place in the front of my van and in a small space in the back of the truck.
roads were good and we made good time home. got here at 6:00 monday the 19th of oct. sigh was soo happy to be here. we let my dogs out while we unpacked the cab of the truck then put them back in and unloaded the back. my puter room was a great spot to put it all. nicely out of the way. Dogs were then let in house and checked the p[lace out and then we let his dogs out and they all got along great. cats were on my puter room and finally out of the kennel. there was a bit of snow on the ground here and i had seen pic's of it all but it was not the same as seeing it on my own. Its very wild and rustic and beautiful. i love it here and it will be a great life for us.

start of second day

morning ug its 7 am and i've been awake for a bit. will be out of here by 7:30
weather up to fort nelson is nice today and tomorow there will be snow in whitehorst and watson lk
but will take it easy.. as im driving in the day time... :)
should be in fort nelson buy about 7 515 miles... try to up date tonite but will see if i get wifi etc..

Prince George

well my start was kinda late but i arrived in Prince george at 7:20 and got a room at the sandman inn.. my butt was too sore lol. put gas in in Cash creak and Quenel.. the drive from hope to sach creek was rainy but ok , from then on it was clear. some working on the highways but was ok also
van is a peach... doing great.. im quite happy with it.. am now eatting lasagna and relaxin.. sandman inn is nice and better than myh van to sleep in..going for now..
going to try and leave early tomorrow so can get toi fort nelson. yay ttfn

morning of the day

well today i leave. kinda nervous and excited. still have to sort out more stuff to make the load lighter for the van.ug. have taken soo much stuff out already. will have to leave some plants here but will leave with the neighbour. doing the last laundry and putting out the garbage etc.
we will def have to come back in the spring to get the rest of the stuff, but it will be both of us.
dogs are wondering whats up and will till we settle there .. they both follow me everywhere and usually its only buster thats like that.oh well will all be great. if i can post on the trip up i will. look on my facebook as Bill will update my wall when he talks to me. He's great :)

last day of work

Well did my last day at fields today.Was kinda wierd, not going back prob ever... sad and happy:)
They are giving me a going away party tonite at the goldrush pub at 7:00. will be nice.
have decided to get to fort st john as they have a year round camp ground and can stay there. Have a camp fire and relax and unwind from the drive... see what happens if i can, they have wifi so will post on face book etc.. have gone through my stuff to try and make it less so not as much weight but can only do so much lol. for thanksgiving went to Fawns place and Andy and Karen and Zoe were there too. had great dinner yummm, but on the way in had a flat tire on the back, seems that they are old tires so got "new" ones from pick a part.. in great shape. Also changed all the filters, air, gas ,and oil.. changed the oil.. decided the front tires were not too great either so got great tread tires for the back too.. yay all "new" all the way around.2 more sleeps and im off.. ft st john first day and Carmacks 2nd day. tis the plan.. :) am packing the van tomorrow so will see what i can take and not hummm lol phone and internet is off friday.
well best get stuff done... :)

Well its been a few days since i last did this. Have been working at Fields(where the value is) lol.. becomes a habit.. so it is helping alot with the lack of work from the bottle depot. but am glad im away from there.. I work there tomorrow(saturday) and then at fawns place Sun and mon.
work fields tues and wed and have a great dinner with my co workers wed nite. will be weird, been there 13 years.. but moving onward. is good.. was talking to Bill on his lunch break and he knows that i will do well up there. i will be able to handle the weather and the area and is glad as he lost his common law wife due to the area. that will not happen to me. He got a turkey today for our christmas dinner :) and he is talking about the trips we can take together. Yay.
anyways back on the progress of packing.. ug.. i think i've gone through jsut about everything i can. alot of recycling and other stuff going to the second hand store. i know ill leave without something ppl always do. but it will be here.. jsut have to make sure its not any pets lol.
If on the trip i can't get any wifi ill tell bill where i am and he will write on my wall so all can see where i'm at.
there is not much more i can pack. am taking stuff to Fawns. stuff that is hers and other stuff that i can't take, like stuff from my freezer and fridge.
its getting clsoe now.less that a week... :)

well fish and guinea pigs are gone. there is soo much i will not be able to take with me. Kinda sucks. but nothing i can do. on the 15th ill pack the van and get all i can into it and then do a good look around here to see what i missed taht i realy need.. the n sleep on my bed for the last time.. goina miss my bed taht i've used(waterbed) for 35 years... its all good though. i have packed quite alot of stuff and tossed out alot also. still soo much stuff... have only 2 vouchers for the dump and those will be used for the shed, but will try to get my inside stuff into the truck also.looks empty without the tank. light is still on lol, jsut got all the distances and times between the towns so i know what i might be able to make and humm maby not:) i think the only thing that might slow me down is having to stop for bathroom breaks..but i have pg, fort st john, fort nelson, watson lake, whitehorse and carmacks as stop places... except kamloops for gas. they are all on web cams too sept the ones in the yukon. i might even find some of those. im getting excited that its getting close... the waiting is tough..

stupid boss

Looks like my boss at bottle place is going to mess up my plans. there are too many ppl working there now and im thinking taht she is going to mess with my time as i am leaving... i already don't work tomorrow, and that will prob go into next week. so my paycheque will be less and that ws my buffer for my bills for november... oh well ill figure it out lol always do.
have over half of it already so it will be good...

Nick , the park manager came over and looked at the shed and will come back tomorrow to chain saw it down. One less thing to worry about. packed a bunch more today.
got gas yesterday and it cost 70.oo and i already had just under half a tank. thats quite expensive.. wow...
Was looking at he way there. i can take 1 of 2 different routes. one has mtns and the other is alot flater.so thinking the flater way might be better, altitude and less hills. so less chance of snow and maby save a bit on gas. if u want to look at the routes go to drivebc.com the web cams are helpfull also thats what im using and they have weather reports on eash camera place too. i'll have the web page on my lap top so i can see whats happening as i go.
I don't work tomorrow and tahts a bother. i need the money for a buffer till i get my next pay cheque, Hope there are no more, I only have 8 days of work left and I need as many of them as I can. And here all the time i wanted days off, but when i need them, she gives them to me, un asked. Oh well I'll try to let her know that i need the last few days.
I ws jsut talking to Bill and he said if she's going to pull that then jsut come up a bit earlier. After thanksgiving day come up. So will see waht she does.... she actually should have told Jerrod to not come in tomorrow. He lives at home and is the summer help. oh well

Sunday Sept 27

Sigh.. worked at fields today. was nice.. home and talked to Bill. he has my comput er room ready.. the rooms are too small to put the computers together... he bought Wolverine and is waiting till i get there so we can watch it together.. :) that will be awsome watching movies with someone again.. November we will get Enterprise yay.. packed more today and went through more things.. got more recycling and put it out for pick up tomorrow.. slowly getting stuff figured out... what to take and what to leave.. have 9 totes/boxes done and most of my clothes is packed, some canned food etc, have a few things to get last min like tv etc... lap top will go with me in front of van so i can use it as i go. i will have my camera with me too and will download pic's all the way up... 3 days of driving.. thats a long way.. but the scenery will be amazing.

friday sept 25th

hope wasp's are dead... and yes they are yay do not like killing stuff but.... and duerest stops to the flash of the sun on car doors i got a nasty migraine.. so Soraya sent me home and yah its is a good one lol..did more inside. cleaned out the kitched drawers.. did a bit on the shed but neighbours are right.. just leave it and the park can have their fun... i guess we will see what happens... in the mean time ill work on the inside.. tomorrow back to work.. then only 12 days... yay figure that ill load the van on 1 lvl ..no stacking and then when i stop i can put my blankets ontop and sleep.. prob not too much but. ill try..

thruday sept 24th

well today got quite a bit done... and was working on shed when i got stung again... by a wasp..grrr hurts..lol tonite they are gone!!! took stuf to recycle place and cleaned van.
kinda wish this wait was over.. but it will come soon enough.. want good weather for the trip...
and i will at least be there before daylight savings time changes... thats nov 1st... whew
got more boxes and cleaned out a couple of more totes and am cleaning out the cats travel cage..

have 14 more work days at bottle depot :)

dogs do not like the van too slippery so need to get a carpet.. and buster had to jsut about be lifted into the van to come home.. but it runs well and i got a nice smelling cleaner to make the van nicer.. i guess ill have to figure out how to tie my stuff in the back of the van, maby a good bungie not sure but will figure it out.. so next is to get the extra oil etc i have and need to travel with into the van. still supposed to take down the shed but have no idea how to... ggrrrr lol oh well.. ill figure it out... enough for today.. relax and jsut be happy that im finished my job at the bottle depot on Oct 14th..yay.... and ill be leaving oct 16... and should arrive in carmacks for my hug Oct 19th..

sigh getting ready is the toughest part... getting the Van, insurance, packing... lots to do first... but it will be worth it... sigh tired now will sleep.. lol seems i add more as a comment sigh getting used to this ill do it differently next time :)
